#it’s like someone punched him directly in his feels#there’s this brief moment where he’s honestly a little confused#and he doesn’t even know if he CAN smile or SHOULD smile because this has never happened#no one’s ever chosen him before#no one’s ever picked him#and she picked him#this love of his un-life#this woman that has prompted him to change for the better#this woman that has made him want to be ground#to stay in one spot#to mend the fences with his brother#this woman that has helped him let go of all the pain and degradation and poor choices of his past#she’s choosing him#he still remembers her saying ‘it will always be stefan’#he repeats it to himself every time they close#when they were at the party and she fed and danced he reminded himself that it was stefan#when she took his hand after he saved her he reminded himself ‘it’s stefan not you’#and here for the first time in his 180+ years there is someone loving him back#there’s something loving him enough to choose HIM#an he doesn’t even know how to react because it’s never happened#and it scares him in that last frame#because what does he do now#how is he supposed to handle this this responsibility#the weight of another person wanting HIM#loving HIM as much he loves them#it’s everything he always wanted and never thought he’d have#and he’s terrified of believing it’s true
